Welcome
to LFWA

The LFWA also shares the view that this industry must be governed by a common commitment to promoting a climate that would be conducive to reasonable profits and sustained investment in the Liquid Fuels Industry, through legislative and regulative means.

The liquid fuels industry is an industry in flux, an industry that is part of a larger more complex society transformation, where the complexity of the two situations are compounded further by globalization, changing shareholder expectations and the need for specific Black Empowerment Initiatives. The solutions are simple – legislation / regulations need to be implemented that creates the actual intention of the Minerals and Petroleum Resources Development Act 28 of 2002 and the Petroleum Liquid Fuels Charter 2002. These are as follows:

  • Promoting an efficient manufacturing, wholesaling and retailing petroleum Industry.
  • Facilitating an environment conducive to efficient and commercially justifiable investment.
  • The creation of employment opportunities and the development of small business in the liquid fuels sector.
  • Ensuring country wide availability of petroleum products at competitive prices.
  • Promoting access to affordable petroleum products by low income consumers for household use.
  • The LFWA

The LFWA was established in later 2011 as an association not for gain. After consideration (backed by a legal opinion) the Management Team agreed to register the LFWA as a Constituted Association and not a company- not for gain. Its key functions are to lobby, advise and advocate on matters relating to the Liquid Fuels Industry – in particular on liquid fuels wholesaling matters. To educate and engage stakeholders on issues relating to the liquid fuels sector throughout the value chain, through work shops / seminars and social media platforms – focusing on issues that impact directly on the wholesaler. The LFWA is an independent recognized body that ensures liquid fuels wholesalers operate in an environment that is com plaint to all relevant legislation. Participate fully in all legislation / regulation interactions ensuring sustainability of the liquid fuels industry.
